Why Geoscience?
In college, I wanted to study the world—literally. I wanted to know what made it tick, how it changed form and evolved on timescales I can only begin to fathom. With that education came a strong understanding of how humans engage with our planet and the various spatial patterns that stem from these interactions. The tools for measuring the impact on our planet and on each other came naturally after.
Within the data science and machine learning community, my background highlights a unique understanding of spatio-temporal relationships, and my work in Geoscience requires the same standards of the Data Science community: rigorous testing, thoughtful analysis, and clear communication.
The most meaningful skill I’ve developed is one not found in any single environment: to learn quickly and effectively.
